four. that's how many times larger the average carbon footprint of a kuwaiti is than an american! and lets be honest, it's not like americans are world-wide environmental leaders. the only difference is kuwait's small population (3.5 million) makes such a footprint less impactful, relatively speaking.  

i don't know why i'm shocked. i shouldn't be. gas is cheap, people drive suv's (every night men are employed to hose sand off the suv's.) each item of produce at the grocery is bagged separately. to-go cups are automatically given at coffee shops. i have yet to see recycling for plastic although everyone drinks bottled water. recycling for other products is not much better. people litter as if the street is their trash can. 

perhaps that's why when i see graffiti like this my heart rejoices.
